First Day of School - Chaos!!!

Sunday night, mommy and daddy got the boys clothes ready for the next day, the BIG day! Before putting the boys to bed mommy and daddy told them that they would be going to big boy school. This would be Aaron's first day at public school and Alec's first day at headstart. I think mommy was more nervous than the boys, they were just excited that they would be wearing new clothes and using their new spiddy backpacks. Mommy tossed and turned all night and could not get to sleep... Mommy and Daddy both had the day off to take the boys to school. Mommy wasn't as worried for Aaron; Aaron had been in school since he was 18 months old - he was kind of used to it. Alec, on the other hand, had been to daycare for about 3 months when he was an infant but then was being cared by his buela; so mommy was super worried about Alec (also cuz of his seizure). Off they go! We get to Aaron's school - the first couple of days drop-off was going to be in the classroom (no biggy) and pick-up was going to be in the cafeteria. We get to Aaron's classroom and drop him off. He gives mommy and daddy a kiss and sits down (he's such a big boy :)! he's not mommy little boy :(! We get to Alec's school - he had a freaked out face but he doesn't cry! yippy! After mommy and daddy leave his aunt gets there to see how he was doing. Alec spots her in the crowd and starts crying! Needless to say, mommy was worried... Time goes by and its time to pick up the boys! We get to Aaron's school cafeteria, find his teacher and ask for Aaron. The teach was soooo busy, there was kids everywhere, parents everywhere - anxious to pick up their baby's and the teach can't find Aaron. Mommy turns and looks at Daddy, tells him they can't find Aaron so we start looking... and looking.... and looking.... nothing. Mommy looks in the boys restroom (maybe he need to go and didn't tell his teacher) nothing..... 2 coaches in the front have microphones - they call his name.... nothing... by this time mommy was in a panic - they could not find Aaron.... Daddy's looking outside and nothing... mommy runs to the main building finds the principle - she's asks "could he have gone on the bus" mommy replies "no, there is no reason for him to ride the bus"... without letting her finish mommy runs down the hall back to Aaron's classroom (maybe he got lost and went back to his room) mommy gets there, the door is closed and the room is dark (mommy by this time is at level 10 panicking, crying the whole nine yards) run back outside - see daddy (maybe he found him) and nothing.... daddy doesn't have him.... not knowing what to do anymore... mommy felt weak, was crying, thinking awful thoughts "oh my god, someone stole Aaron" that's all mommy could think of... mind you about 40 to 50 mins had gone by and Aaron is no where to be found... Mommy goes back to the cafeteria, grabs the mic from the coach and starts to calling for Aaron hoping that he'd recognize mommy's voice - nothing.... we go back outside wait for the principle and while were waiting mommy's cousin is walking up to pick up her little boy - she sees how I look and asks me "what's wrong, Aaron is with Grandma" Emotionally drained mommy falls to her knees - and just starts balling it! crying and crying! I felt every emotion... Daddy holding her up and walking by her side was trying to calm mommy down. We get to Grandma's house, I see Aaron's smiling face and give him the biggest hug ever! Boy was mommy scared! Grandma, was so excited that Aaron was going to big boy school that she was afraid that mommy and daddy were going to forget to be on time so she went to wait for him before the bell rang. The teacher had forgotten to mark him off that he had been picked up. It was soooooo chaotic in the cafeteria that it was bound to happen - hoping it wouldn't happen to us (fat chance)........ This is the "First Day of School" that we'll never forget!!!

Me too, Sal. I was getting all shook up. Nothing like loosing a kid. I'm so glad you found him. Tell Gramma to call and leave a message on your cell phone, next time.
